Prayer After The Terror
3:03 AM
I was first alarmed by Sir Pharaoh's wall post about the earthquake that shook the northeastern part of Japan yesterday. Akala ko wala lang as I didn't bother check the news further. I left for some errands at pagbalik ko na nalaman ang severity ng kondisyon. I was devastated watching the scenes on CNN. I have Japanese friends and some Filipino friends in Japan. I hurried over to their FB profiles and other social networking accounts to get in touch about their condition. Sa lahat ng mga nasendan ko ng message, isa lang sumagot, si Gensei, former dormmate ko and a close Japanese friend. Sendai was badly hit by the tsunami but it was felt all throughout Japan with an 8.9 magnitude Earthquake. Ok lang sila despite the recurring aftershocks. But my worry goes on for some of the people I know and for Japan itself.
So for us watching this terror from afar with nothing affecting us but worry, let's continue to pray for our brothers and sisters in Japan and for the other countries threatened of what's approaching them. Let us pray for the families who have lost their loved ones, for those missing, for those working to rescue, and for everyone else involved--- may they all find strength in the Lord amidst this disaster. And although devastated, may they come to know grace and mercy that is from Him.
You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. - Matt 24:6-8 (NIV)
In this time of disaster, let us remember that there is a God who holds all things together.
Comfort them Lord in this disaster. You said in your word, that You never forget us. So we pray...and believe..more. Secure the lost in Your arms, and relieve the families who are grieving. Although the grounds have shaken and the seas have roared, Your love remains. May the people see Your grace amidst this terror. Rise oh Lord. Be the Rock on this Earth that stands still. Amen
